Harvest Presents: New Orleans Blues Guitar Hero, Bryan Lee!

On the heels of a hugely successful festival and as part of our year-round programming, like our annual Mid-Winter Blues shows; the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival is proud to present the first show in our Encore Series with bona fide New Orleans blues guitar hero, Bryan Lee & The Blues Power Band!

Bryan Lee & The Blues Power Band will appear for one night only, Friday October 16th, 8PM at the James Joyce Pub in Fredericton, NB. Tickets are $14.99 plus tax and available online through www.ticketpro.ca, in person at 81 Regent Street or by calling 454-2583.

Bryan Lee (Braille Blues Daddy) is one of the most recognizable blues players to call New Orleans home. Eric Clapton called him 'one of the best bluesmen he has ever heard'! But for Lee, the blues has been a fickle lover. Born with a skin color not common amongst bluesmen and living without eyesight since the age of eight, the music that he loved didn't always have a place for him. Born in northern Wisconsin, Lee grew up listening to the blues on AM radio, began playing at 13 and eventually took his guitar down to Chicago. Despite his abilities, Lee wasn't welcomed.

Now, with the respect of peers like Buddy Guy (who will appear on Lee's next album) and last year's nomination for a Blues Award, Lee is not content to rest on his laurels. "Every album has got to be better than the last one. The more you record, the more you have pressure on yourself," explained Lee.

"I can focus deeper. I don't have any physical distractions. That's the grace of God. Yes, I don't have eyesight, but the good Lord gave me the gift of music and I run into a lot of people that are emotionally blind. Eyesight or insight, it's kind of an easy choice to make."

Bryan Lee is unstoppable...a long-time staple on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, Lee is a natural born houserocker with a whole lot of soul. Together with The Blues Power Band; Brent Johnson on guitar, Bill Blok on bass and John Perkins on the drums, they are known for their infectious groove, killer guitar licks and that sweet soulful blues...this show is one not to be missed.
