Nikki Yanofsky Performance Postponed
September 14, 2009
The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival and the Fredericton Playhouse regret to announce the performance by Nikki Yanofsky on Tuesday, September 15, has been postponed. The concert has been rescheduled to Wednesday, October 7th.
Yanofsky, the 15-year old jazz vocal phenom from Montreal, was set to open the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival and the Playhouse's Spotlight Series with a sold out show. The singer was forced to postpone her performance due to an infection which prevents her from flying or performing.
"It's certainly disappointing. We were all looking forward to her sold out performance," said Festival Music Director Brent Staeben. "Unfortunately, nothing could be done. It was a health issue. Everyone will have to wait one more night to get into the Harvest groove and just a few more weeks to hear Nikki Yanofsky."
"We're happy that her management was able to confirm a new date immediately. I know that she was very disappointed that she couldn't make it for festival week, but she is really looking forward to performing in Fredericton." said Tim Yerxa, Executive Director of The Playhouse." Nikki is one of Canada's true rising stars and we want to ensure Frederictonians have a chance to see her."
Ticket holders can use their existing tickets for the rescheduled performance on October 7th. Those who are unable to attend the rescheduled date are asked to return their tickets to the outlet where they were purchased—the Playhouse Box Office for the Festival Store at 81 Regent Street—before September 28th.
"We realize it's late notice, so we are trying to reach as many patrons as we can during the day today and inform them of the postponement," said Staeben.
The Festival continues Wednesday evening with a free all ages performance by Roberto Lopez in the Bell Aliant Mojo Tent at 7pm. A sold out performance by The Joel Plaskett Emergency follows the free show in the same tent. The Playhouse Spotlight Series continues all season long with performances by major national and international artists in music, dance, and theatre.
