Little Rock, AR
Here’s another hot Harvest debut from the deep south. Amasa Hines is a seven-piece, Little Rock, Arkansas-based band, whose sound is as big as their influences are wide. Self-described as “psychedelic afro-futuristic rock,” they feature elements of jam and jazz-fusion, while mixing in soul, Afro-beat, psychedelic, dub, blues and indie. Amasa Hines formed in 2010 and comprises five members: Joshua Asante on vocals and guitar, Ryan Hitt on bass, Norman Williamson on saxophone, and brothers Josh and Judson Spillyards on drums and guitar, respectively. Debut album All The World There Is was released in January of 2014, instantly winning the hearts of heavyweight musical mainstays Paste Magazine and Daytrotter, while the band has toured with Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Lee Fields & The Expressions and The Record Company of late. They’ve also taken their sound to SXSW, Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits Festival, sharing the stage with some of today’s most talented acts.
