David Myles
Fredericton, NB / Halifax, NS | Folk, Acoustic, Blues
Hometown crooner David Myles’ sincere songwriting and warm and joyful performance style have made him an increasingly in-demand musician across the country. His versatile genre-bending style effortlessly straddles jazz, blues, folk and pop, with smart, heartfelt lyrics that address the human condition without straying into the overly-sentimental. David won the International Songwriters Competition in 2008, beating out several thousand entries from around the world. He was also chosen by the CBC to represent New Brunswick in the Great Canadian Song Quest in 2009, for which he penned the ode to his home province, “Don’t Drive Through”. A multiple ECMA-winner, David has been nominated (among others) for Entertainer of the Year for three years running, and this year he led the nominations with a whopping five, winning two, including Folk Recording of the Year for his most recent album, the soul-infused Turn Time Off, produced by East Coast rocker Joel Plaskett. Now Myles is poised to make his triumphant return home in a special Harvest show with Canadian pop-rock icon Steven Page.
