Rich Aucoin
Halifax, NS | Pop, Experimental
When Halifax’s energetic pop DJ Rich Aucoin brought what he calls “motivational crowd karaoke” to the Barracks stage last year, he created a euphoric communal experience that he strives for with every performance. Setting lush, orchestral, electro pop music to intriguing and eclectic video clips and an ever-evolving sound and light show (complete with balloons, streamers and confetti), he breaks down the barriers between performer and audience to make a sweat-drenched dance party for all. His first recording Personal Publication – which was conceived to be synched to the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas – features over 25 instruments, all recorded on one microphone. For his second record, Public Publication, he upped the ante, recording the anthemic pop album from coast to coast with more than 500 musicians before its completion. Now Rich Aucoin is back and once again set to turn the Barracks into a party chock full of colour, magic and good vibrations!
