Harvest adds Melvin Seals & Jerry Garcia Band to Levon Helm show
Harvest announced today that the legendary jam band Jerry Garcia Band, led by Jerry’s long-time keyboardist Melvin Seals, will open for the Levon Helm Band in the Budweiser Blues Tent on Thursday September 15.
This spot is in addition to Melvin Seals & Jerry Garcia Band’s headlining show in the Galaxie Barracks Tent on Friday, September 16.
Harvest Announces 2011 Galaxie Rising Star Finalists
The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival announced today the six finalists who will compete to be Harvest’s 2011 Galaxie Rising Star. Presented by the Festival and Galaxie, the continuous music network, the Rising Star Showcase is one of the region’s most important and highly competitive musical competitions, and a potentially career-launching opportunity for developing New Brunswick performers, offering regional and national exposure for the top six finalists.
This year’s finalists are Fredericton’s Jaclyn Reinhart Band, The Arka Teks, and The Hungry Hearts, Owen Steel from St. Andrews, Mike Biggar from Rothesay, and Lonesome Line from Edmundston.

Harvest Goes Big: 13-Piece Levon Helm Band to Headline in Allman Slot
The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival announced today that it has signed Grammy-winner and Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Levon Helm and his 13-piece band to headline a show on Thursday, September 15, replacing Gregg Allman, who was forced to cancel his two performances for health reasons.
It is the second blockbuster announcement made by Harvest in 24 hours. Yesterday, the Festival announced that blues master Buddy Guy will replace Allman on Wednesday, September 14th. Both shows will be in the Budweiser Blues Tent.
