Greening Our Harvest
In 2008, the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival began an initiative to become a more environmentally-friendly festival. As an active and socially responsible organization in our community, we are doing something about it! Harvest organizers, patrons, volunteers, and musicians, are working together to reduce the average of 32 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions produced in connection with the festival.
Get onboard! It’s our Harvest and together we will make 2010 even greener!
New in 2010
We have eliminated plastic water bottles this year and will be refilling drink cups instead. There will be no more disposable water bottles at the bar.
HSM Systems has graciously donated the use of a mobile renewable energy trailer that has both solar and wind energy to power the lighting in the Mojo tent!! Please visit h2storagemedia.com for more details on this incredible mobile trailer and to learn more about hydrogen as a source of clean energy.
What are you doing to Green Your Harvest?
Now that you know how many tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions that Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival produces on average, it is time to think of what we can do individually so that collectively, we can reduce this number each and every year.
Think simple—walk downtown, use the NB Liquor Harvest Park & Ride if you are coming from a hotel or campus, reuse your cup, use the CupSucker for your cup, garbage can for your garbage and blue bins for recycling.
