Harvest Jazz & Blues Breaks Opening Day Sale Records
May 18, 2010
The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival’s first-ever Online Early Bird Sale was a huge success, generating the Festival’s biggest opening weekend of ticket and pass buying in the event’s 20-year history.
Tickets to almost all shows remain available and can be purchased online until Early Bird tickets are sold out. The Festival had put about half of all tickets and passes on sale on May 15th in the Early Bird Sale. All remaining tickets and passes will go on sale at 8:30am, Saturday, July 17th online, by phone or at the Harvest Store at 81 Regent St.
Saturday was the largest single day of ticket sales in Harvest’s history. The popular Early Bird Ultimate Pass sold out in an astonishing 58 minutes. Other Early Bird sell-outs included The Super Session with Big Sugar and The Trews, the Saturday Night Pass and the Thursday night Gregg Allman show.
“The response to our Early Bird Sale was amazing. Our fans, who usually buy in July, were obviously ready at the keyboard at 9am because sales exploded in the first hour,” says Dave Seabrook, Director of Communications for the Festival. “It shows there’s a lot of excitement for our 20th anniversary event, when people are buying their tickets and passes four months in advance.
“There was more demand than could be met for the Ultimate Passes in the Early Bird Sale, but there’s no need to panic,” Seabrook says. “Additional Ultimates will go on sale July 17th, but if you want to guarantee your Festival experience, we are counselling people to go online and guarantee their show tickets.
“There was so much demand early Saturday morning when our online sales and phone sales started that it really kept everybody working as fast as they possibly could for the first few hours. By early afternoon, the pace of sales had eased a bit, but stayed consistent throughout the weekend,” Seabrook adds.
The high demand this year is partly a reflection of the all-star line up that includes international legends Gregg Allman, Jonny Lang, John Hiatt, Xavier Rudd and Maria Muldaur, Canadian favourites such as Big Sugar, The Trews, Elliott Brood, Champion & His G-Strings and Beast, and top New Brunswick artists like Matt Andersen, David Myles and Thom Swift.
Information on these and all other artists playing in our five main venues can be found at www.harvestjazzandblues.com.
Friday Night passes and tickets for all shows except Gregg Allman Thursday and The Super Session are still available for purchase at www.harvestjazzandblues.com, www.ticketpro.ca or by calling the Ticketpro call centre at 1-888-311-9090.
The second wave of ticket and pass sales will begin on Saturday, July 17th, with the opening of the Harvest Store at 81 Regent Street.
