Swing Dance Party adds something new to Harvest line up
August 5, 2011
Harvest’s brand new TD Jazz Central will be in full swing on Saturday, September 17, when Nova Scotian big band Dave James & the Jazz Hoods of Swing take over the Fredericton Convention Centre ballroom for a big band swing dance.
The large-impact 13-piece band, led by renowned drummer Dave James (Nimmons and Nine Plus 6, Canada Pops Orchestra, The Royal York Imperial Room Orchestra), is comprised of some of the finest professional musicians on the East Coast. With both a female and male vocalist, the band performs a whole gamete of classic swing, jump blues, samba and much more, covering hits from greats such as Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington and Harry James.
“A big band dance is something that Harvest hasn’t done in a long time, but with the great new space in the FCC ballroom, it was something we wanted to try out this year,” says Brent Staeben, Music Director of the Festival. “This show offers something for a whole new Harvest audience.”
The event will offer patrons round tables to sit and enjoy the music, as well as a large dance floor to cut a rug. There will be a full bar, but all-ages are welcome to attend.
Ultimate and Saturday pass holders are also welcome. Individual tickets are $25 and available at Harvest Central and through Ticketpro.
