Voting Opens for UK’s New Brunswick Battle of the Blues Final
February 1, 2012
Harvest’s search for the United Kingdom’s best emerging blues band continues and we need your help to decide. With four finalists now selected through regional heats throughout the UK, the UK Battle of the Blues has added a public vote to the competition to decide one more ‘wild card’ finalist, who will join the other acts in the London finals at the end of March.
For the second year – through a partnership with NB Tourism and Parks, and Fredericton Tourism – the NB Battle of the Blues put out a call to up-and-coming blues acts in the United Kingdom to find a band worthy of the Harvest stage.
A total of 75 bands answered the call and the competition was narrowed down to 30 semi-finalists, with bands competing in four different heats across the UK last month.
Four talented blues acts were selected to move on to the finals in London on March 27th, where a panel of industry judges will select one act to perform on the Harvest stage in September.
The winners of each heat were Paint It Blue (Bristol), The Groove-A-Matics (Newcastle), The Little Devils (Billericay), and Chris James (Newton le Willows).
There is one ‘wild card’ position left in the London finals, which will be filled through a public vote of the runners-up from each heat.
Each heat had two runners-up, whose video is now posted on the New Brunswick tourism website (www.tourismnewbrunswick.co.uk). The public is encouraged to watch the videos between now and February 28th, and rate each of them from on a scale of one to five.
The highest-rated in the public vote on February 28th will earn the fifth position in the London finals on March 27th, in the hopes of being named a 2012 Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival performer.
