Harvest Sets Record for First Day of Ticket Sales
July 19, 2009
Patrons lined up outside the Festival Store at 81 Regent Street at 5am to be at the front of the line as tickets and passes for this year's Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival went on sale Saturday.
They, along with hundreds of Festival fans who called from through-out the Maritimes and as far away as British Columbia on the toll-free phone line and purchased online, helped the event set a record for the first day of ticket and pass sales.
"It's really a testament to the passion of our Harvest patrons. They lined up early and hit on website and phone lines pretty hard," said Festival Chair, Patti Graham.
"We invested heavily in programming this year and we've got probably our deepest schedule ever in terms of talent. And we've invested heavily in patron comfort. It's great to know that our patrons continue to support us, even in economic hard times," said Graham.
The Festival actually set a sales record for gross sales on opening day at just before noon. "It was really quite incredible the amount of business we did Saturday morning," added Graham.
None of the Festivals passes or tickets are sold out, but Graham advises people looking for the Festival's coveted Ultimate Pass to buy right away.
"They'll definitely sell out soon," Graham says.
