Atlantic Canada's most celebrated blues festival couldn't go on in 2007 without paying respect to our great friend Dutch Mason, Prime Minister of the Blues, who passed away last year. He'll be remembered the way we're sure he'd like by musical friends and family. A show not to be missed.
We heard your requests and have responded with afternoon and early evening shows featuring Dr. John, Molly Johnson, Matt Minglewood, Eric Lindell, Watermelon Slim and Keith Hallett.
We've added a touch of folk to Harvest to help ease you into the evening. On Friday, catch rising star and hometown boy David Myles. On Saturday, catch Jenn Grant as she serves up some beautiful and dreamy songs.
Come to the Hoodoo early in the evening for acoustically-styled blues, then hold on to your ticket and stay for free at the Electric Boogie series later in the evening, starting at 11:30pm.
We're diving deep and heavy into a new genre of music. With a cutting edge twist on improvisation, Montreal's Champion and his G-Strings lead us down the garden path into techno-electronica during the Saturday Afterburner in the Bud Light Blues Tent. It's like nothing else we've showcased before.
Sometimes the best way to see an artist is alone and naked on stage. Well, we don't expect they'll get naked but Gov't Mule's Warren Haynes and Cape Breton's Matt Minglewood will perform solo in the Bud Light Blues Tent, Thursday and Friday evenings respectively.
It's one of the festival's coolest settings. Catch Latin jazz piano master Sylvio Pupo behind the curtain at The Playhouse in a cabaret-style format.
With assistance from the NB Arts Board, you'll be seeing a lot of the talented local up-andcomer Keith Hallett this year. He'll show up throughout the weekend, including a special show called the Bluesman's Apprentice where Keith gets to trade licks with blues veterans like Watermelon Slim and Eric Lindell.
It's hard to believe we're offering even more free public programming, but we've done it with the new ANBL stage in the York Street parking lot, behind the Armouries and beside the Garrison Pedway. Definitely check it out as you cruise between the Bud Light Blues Tent, the Evention Barracks Stage and the Mojo Tent in Officers' Square.
The City has kindly allowed us to shut down a couple of streets during the evenings of the festival. After 6:30pm, we'll close Queen between Regent and Carleton, along with Carleton north of Queen. It's going to make for a safer and more dynamic festival environment. Watch for free programming on the JD Irving Stage on Queen in front of the old Post Office. Thanks to everyone for the cooperation.
