Formed in 1987, at a time when canned tunes had depressed the local live music scene, and when “downtown had the blues,” the Downtown Blues Band has evolved from a casual group of like-minded blues enthusiasts to Fredericton’s favourite party band. They’ve shared the stage with Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd, and helped raise funds to dig wells, buy food for the hungry and instruments for students. As a group of seasoned professional performers, the Downtown Blues Band will bring their infectiously fun show back to Harvest, as is tradition! Filling out this tremendous showcase of Canadian blues talent is four-time ECMA nominee The Gary Sappier Band, whose music is a unique combination of Aboriginal flavoured rhythms and soulful blues. The bill also features two burgeoning local blues acts in a reunion of historical Harvest favorite Blind Dog and local upstart Quinn Bonnell, who uses his fantastic instrumental ability to combine singer-songwriter stylings with blues and folk on much anticipated upcoming EP, The Night.
