With her undeniable voice and an arsenal of powerful songs, Martha Wainwright is a beguiling performer and a refreshing musical force. Born in New York City to folk legends Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III, Martha’s incredible range and talent has stunned sold out audiences on several continents. Her latest, the extraordinary 2016 album Goodnight City, returns to the rawness of her first releases, while showcasing her musical maturity and knack for songwriting. These will be on full display, as she opens our twenty seventh edition with a sparkling show at the Fredericton Playhouse. Jessica Rhaye is a career troubadour who, with stunning vocals and lush melodies, has always moved easily between folk, country and Americana. Brent Mason is a singer-songwriter who has traversed diverse territories of tune and theme in more than twenty years of music-making. Together, these two native Saint Johners will will play the first notes of our twenty seventh edition, supporting Martha Wainwright.
