Organizers announced today that slide guitar great Elvin Bishop, with a rich four-decade long pedigree in the blues, will join the impressive list of headliners at this year's Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival.

When it came to planning this year's Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, organizers set themselves a serious goal: substantially enhance the patron experience. It's not an easy target when the event is about to shake off its extended adolescence and come of age with its 19th birthday, but the Festival didn't grow to become Atlantic Canada's premier international music experience by being afraid of shaking things up.

Like everyone in the blues world, the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival was extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Koko Taylor on Wednesday June 3rd. The two time Grammy winning Blues Legend was due to headline the 2009 Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival. She will be greatly missed by Harvest fans and fans across the Blues community.

The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival today dropped ten not-so-subtle hints that the 2009 edition of the event is shaping up to be its strongest yet. The Festival announced the signing of ten top international and national artists including multiple Grammy winners Los Lobos and the legendary Queen of the Blues Koko Taylor as well as two-time Grammy nominee Susan Tedeschi.

A new study confirms what music fans, restaurants and hotels in Fredericton have already known for years. The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival is a significant contributor to the economy and helps extend the peak tourism season for the Capital City. According to a new study released today, the Festival has a total economic impact of $5.8 million.
